LED Video Walls on Bengaluru's Streets: What's Actually Driving the DOOH Boom
Why Bengaluru's digital out-of-home screens are multiplying, what they cost to run, and how to buy one without the usual surprises.

Drive down Outer Ring Road or past Forum Mall on a weekday evening and you'll see it: more glass buildings carrying LED screens than banners. Bengaluru's digital out-of-home (DOOH) market isn't a trend anymore, it's infrastructure. Here's what's actually behind the shift, and what it costs to own a screen rather than just admire one.
The short version
- Static hoardings are losing ground to LED screens that can sell multiple ad slots on one panel, through the day.
- Outdoor walls in Bengaluru need to handle monsoon humidity and harsh west-facing sun, not just bright daylight.
- Running costs are driven by panel efficiency and auto-dimming after dark, not just the sticker price.
- GST and installation should be on your quote upfront; PixelSpot publishes per-sq-ft pricing including install.
- A site survey before you buy decides pixel pitch, brightness and mounting far better than guesswork.
Why DOOH budgets are moving to LED in Karnataka
Traditional hoardings sell one message for 15 or 30 days. An LED wall at the same spot can carry six advertisers in rotation, each paying for a slot, with content swapped from a laptop anywhere in the city. For mall owners, tech park facility teams and retail chains, that's the real pitch: one physical asset, several revenue lines. We cover the business case in more depth on our events page, but the same logic applies to any building frontage with footfall.
Metro advertisers are also chasing measurability. Screens report uptime and play logs through PxlOS, our cloud CMS, so an agency buying a slot gets proof the ad actually played, not just a photo at installation.
Monsoon and sun: the two things outdoor screens must survive here
Bengaluru isn't Chennai-humid or Delhi-dusty, but it gets both monsoon downpours and sharp afternoon sun, sometimes in the same week. Our outdoor cabinets are rated IP65 at the front and IP54 at the rear — the front face sheds rain and dust completely, the rear is protected against splash and dust ingress during servicing, not submersion. Indoor panels are IP43 and have no business facing weather.
Any wall facing west, or sitting behind glass on a bright street, needs an outdoor-grade panel rated up to 4,500 nits with auto-dimming after dark, never an indoor module pushed past its limit. The actual angle of that west sun, and whether a parapet or awning throws shade for part of the day, is something our site survey checks before we spec brightness or recommend tilt.
What actually drives the power bill
Nobody budgets for electricity until the first bill arrives. An outdoor wall running at full 4,500 nits all day draws noticeably more than one that auto-dims after sunset, when ambient light drops and full brightness is wasted power, not better visibility. Novastar and Huidu controllers handle this dimming automatically based on an ambient light sensor, so the wall isn't guessing — it's reading the street.
For indoor walls in lobbies or showrooms, brightness tops out at 600 nits anyway, so power draw is modest and predictable. The bigger lever for indoor sites is how many hours a day content actually runs versus sitting on standby.
GST, published pricing, and why transparency matters here
LED wall buying in India has a reputation problem: quotes that exclude installation, structural work, or GST, revealed only after the advance is paid. We publish per-sq-ft prices on our site with installation included, so the number you see on our pricing page is the number on the invoice, GST added on top as per standard rate, nothing hidden in a separate
