Pixel pitch is the distance between LED centres in millimetres. The whole choice comes down to how far the nearest viewer stands. This page gives the rule and a table you can use without a calculator.
The rule
Minimum comfortable distance in metres ≈ the pitch number. P2.5 from 2.5 m, P4 from 4 m. The image looks best from about twice that distance. Closer than the minimum and you see individual dots; much farther and you paid for resolution nobody can see.

Choosing by room
- Boardroom, 4 m table: people sit 1.5 to 4 m away, so P1.5 or P1.8.
- Showroom counter wall: customers stand 2 to 5 m away, P2.5 is right; P1.8 if they lean on the counter.
- Church, temple or wedding stage: first row at 3 m or more, P2.5 or P3.
- Shopfront seen from the road: 5 to 15 m, outdoor P4.
- Hoarding on a main road: 20 m and more, P6 to P10.
Resolution check
Wall width in mm divided by pitch gives pixels across. A 10 ft (3,048 mm) wide P2.5 wall is 1,219 px wide, comfortably enough for Full HD content viewed from 2.5 m. Go finer only if viewers are closer, not to hit a resolution number.
