A plain guide to the seven kinds of sign board a Bengaluru shop meets. What each one is. Where it suits. Who makes it. We make only one of the seven, and this page says which.
Walk down any market road in Bengaluru, from Chickpete to Indiranagar, and you see the same seven kinds of sign board. Here is each one in plain words.
1. Flex board. A design printed on a flexible PVC sheet and stretched over a metal frame. It is quick to make and low in cost for each piece. It shows one message until it is replaced. It suits a new shop that needs a name up this week, a short sale, or a temporary site. More on this in flex banner or LED screen.
2. Vinyl or ACP name board. Printed vinyl or cut lettering on an aluminium composite panel. Flat, neat and solid. It suits a shop name that will not change, a clinic or office name plate, and a building directory.
3. 3D letter sign. Separate letters cut from acrylic or metal and fixed to the fascia. Some are plain. Some are lit from inside or from behind. It suits showrooms, salons, restaurants and offices where the name itself is the sign.
4. Backlit glow sign. A box with lights inside and a printed face that lets the light through. The whole face glows after dark. It suits pharmacies, bakeries, supermarkets and any shop that trades late.
5. Neon-style sign. Glass neon, or an LED strip made to look like it, bent into a word or a shape. It suits cafés, bars, salons and photo corners. It is decoration as much as a sign.
6. Scrolling LED board. A strip of single-colour LEDs that runs text from one side to the other. The text can be retyped. It suits timings, rates, token numbers and a one-line offer.
7. Full-colour LED display. A screen built from LED modules, the same kind used in video walls. It shows photos, video and text, and the content changes from a phone. It suits shopfronts with changing offers, menus, showrooms and mall stores. People also call it an LED sign board, an LED display board or an LED screen for a shop. This is the one we make.
Plain answers, no scores. On a phone, slide the table sideways.

Readable by day? All seven are, if they are sized and placed well. One caution for type seven: a screen that faces the street must be an outdoor panel, up to 4,500 nits. It dims itself after dark.
Upkeep? Printed signs need cleaning, and a fresh print when the colour fades or the message changes. Lit signs have lamps and power supplies that can fail. A screen has modules, power supplies and a controller. For any lit sign, ask who will service it and how fast they come.
We do not print lifespans for signs we do not make. The life of a board depends on its material, the sun on that wall and the workmanship. Ask the fabricator what is covered, and get it in writing.
For our own LED displays we can speak plainly. Every one carries a 2-year warranty and is serviced by the crew that installed it. What wears in a screen and what does not is on our page about LED wall lifespan.
Six of the seven come from sign fabricators and printers. Bengaluru has plenty of them. One of the seven comes from an LED manufacturer.
Flex boards, vinyl and ACP name boards, 3D letters, glow signs and neon-style signs. Most also supply scrolling LED boards. PixelSpot does not make any of these six. We do not print flex, cut acrylic or build glow boxes. If one of them is what your shop needs, a local fabricator is the right call, and we would rather say so here than on a phone call.
The full-colour LED display. PixelSpot is one such maker. We build the panels at our factory in Jalahalli, Bengaluru. Our own crew surveys the site, installs the screen and services it. The site survey is free.
Digital signage in Bangalore ›A screen costs far more than any of the other six on day one. So it has to earn its place.
A shop can also do both: fixed letters for the name, and a screen for what changes.
We list only our own prices. For the other six sign types, ask two or three fabricators for a quote.

Sign fabricators and printers make flex boards, name boards, 3D letter signs, glow signs and neon-style signs. Many also supply scrolling LED boards. LED manufacturers make full-colour LED displays. PixelSpot is an LED manufacturer in Jalahalli, Bengaluru, and makes only the LED display.
If the sign only has to say the shop's name, a name board, 3D letters or a glow sign does the job. If the message changes often, such as offers, a menu or rates, a full-colour LED display earns its place. A shop can use both: letters for the name and a screen for what changes.
No. PixelSpot makes full-colour LED displays only. For a flex board, a name board, 3D letters, a glow sign or a neon-style sign, a local sign fabricator is the right call.
A complete 6 × 4 ft outdoor P6 LED display is ₹1,46,000 + GST and an outdoor P4 is ₹1,54,500 + GST, with the controller and installation. Per square foot, our outdoor panels run from ₹4,800 to ₹10,250 + GST, installed, with the controller extra.
No. A screen that faces the street, even from behind glass, needs an outdoor-grade panel of up to 4,500 nits. An indoor panel is up to 600 nits and is made for the inside of the shop.
Two of the seven. A scrolling LED board changes its text when someone retypes it. A full-colour LED display changes text, photos and video from a phone. The other five show one message until the sign is remade.
Send us a photo of your shopfront on WhatsApp at +91 72048 08334. If a screen is not the right answer, we will say so.
